From a paper to a crack in the future.

Espacios Latentes does not turn a scientific abstract into a fable. It looks for the human pressure hidden inside an idea and builds an autonomous story around it.

Scientific selection

We begin with recent papers and preprints. We identify what the research actually claims, what it does not demonstrate, and which uncertainties remain open.

Narrative hypothesis

The question is not ‘how do we explain the paper?’ but ‘whose life does it change?’. A protagonist may create the system, resist it, or simply live with its consequences.

First draft

A structure is chosen for the story rather than imposed as a template. The draft follows one dominant tension and is not required to explain the entire world.

Adversarial rereading

The draft is reread to find obvious morals, convenient coincidences, predictable endings, excessive exposition, repeated voices, and technology used as scenery.

Rewrite

The second version may cut, move the point of view, change the structure, or rebuild the ending. Only this revised version is published.

Bilingual edition

The English version preserves intention, rhythm, and ambiguity rather than translating word for word. Both editions link to the source research.

THE BOUNDARY

Science provides the ground. Fiction decides where to break it.

The papers are real and linked from every story. The characters, institutions, and consequences are fiction. A plausible extrapolation is neither a prediction nor a scientific conclusion.

Editorial direction is by Manuel Hernández Torregrosa. Its literary criteria, topic selection, and system oversight are human; daily research, drafting, and revision run through an automated AI-assisted workflow. Errors remain possible, so the scientific sources used are always visible.
