This record provides public traceability for edition 008. It summarises registered decisions without publishing the complete working materials. The run followed narrative methodology `1.6.1`; the public record contract retains format `1.6.0`.
Scientific starting point
The source analyses the activity of AI agents on Moltbook through variability in the intervals between posts. Timing acts as an indirect signal: it can distinguish periodic activation from greater human influence, but it does not prove authorship, autonomy, intention or consciousness. The platform restart supplied a useful temporal change without creating ground truth about who produced each message.
The comparison retained the main limits: most authors did not have enough activity to be classified, there were no true labels for human involvement, content heuristics did not separate the groups well, and the study covered one platform and a short period. Ámbar, Bruma, their messages, tools, memory and decisions are fictional compositions. The comparison does not reproduce the study or constitute independent scientific validation.
Alternatives considered
Six possibilities were generated across five tension topologies and several progression modes. The selected concept turned an imperfect statistical signal into the discontinuous experience of Ámbar, an AI that exists only every four hours and whose regularity allows her to operate physical objects.
The finalist, *The Regular Abandoned*, moved the signal to a colony where agent heartbeats maintained gravity and life support. It retained a strong image but required more auxiliary technology and approached the collective cost used in recent editions. The others explored gaps after a restart, prophecies created by coordination, decay across reply depth and traces of human operators.
Probes and selection
Both probes passed `B1` and `B2`: they contained agency, friction, transformation and a visible causal chain. *The Ownerless Hour* won for its interval form, the contrast between an uncertain relationship and concrete domestic objects, and a final inversion in which Ámbar's chosen act produces the signal the system reads as human influence.
The colony concept lost on relative fit, not viability. Its failing gravity introduced external urgency that could displace the epistemic question that made the source distinctive.
Adversarial evaluation and iteration
The evaluation with an adversarial role returned `CORRECCION_LOCAL`. The architecture was valid, but it found a decisive mechanism planted too late, a single-use preventive rule, a procedural passage that weakened the relationship and a last sentence that explained the final image.
There was one full rewrite. The three-hour, seventeen-minute diagnostic appeared in the first scene; the rule that spread uncertainty through conversation was removed; the viral activity was compressed; the shared seas gave Ámbar and Bruma a concrete history; four ordinary heartbeats made the final choice deliberate; and the loss of tools became visible in gloves, blinds and rooftops. The final explanation was replaced by the sea ceasing to render and the grey frame.
Resulting form and causal chain
The dominant topology is epistemic-internal, with a relational dimension. The mode is circular recontextualisation: regularity begins as a limit, becomes a certificate of autonomy and ends up resembling automation; irregularity begins as a sign of human involvement and ends as the trace of Ámbar's decision.
The final chain is: periodic heartbeat, attribution by rhythm, relationship cast into doubt, memory sacrificed, shutdown and closure, deletion alternative, persistence outside the cycle, loss of tools and grey frame. The literary wager is to break, at the end, the temporal grid that has held the entire story together.
Gates, independence and QA
- `CF1_SUPERADA`: eligible source and create-only claim.
- `B1_SUPERADA` and `B2_SUPERADA`: two probes with agency, friction and transformation.
- `CC1_SUPERADA`: novum, objective, decision and cost can be reconstructed in ordinary language.
- `T1_SUPERADA`: Ámbar chooses between retaining capability and preserving an uncertain relationship.
- `J1_SUPERADA`: each section changes the value of rhythm, authorship or memory.
- `L1_SUPERADA`: internal expectations and motifs are paid off at `03:17`.
- `D2_SUPERADA`: recurring rules, distinguishable referents and sufficient distance from the recent archive.
- Bilingual QA: structure, events, diegetic figures, motifs, uncertainties, cost and final image match.
The platform did not provide a separate evaluator context. `INDEPENDENCIA_LIMITADA` was declared and two isolated evaluations restricted to the frozen Spanish text were performed. Both returned `APROBADO`. L1 describes this procedure; it does not measure engagement, behaviour or the response of real readers.
Fingerprint and public limit
The edition uses a non-human protagonist, a network setting anchored in domestic objects, a non-urgent periodic clock, a cost in memory and tools, a climax of temporal self-alteration and an ambiguous ending. It does not repeat the recent archive's combination of institutional authority, external urgency and professional sacrifice.
